13 Simple Paint Hacks That Make Painting Your Home So Much Easier

Your Empty Snack Container Can Save Your Paint Roller

Here's one of the strangest painting hacks on the list—and possibly one of the most satisfying. When you've finished painting for the day, where do you put your roller? Leaving it exposed can allow the paint to dry. Tossing it somewhere in the garage can crush the roller cover. And wrapping a wet roller in random plastic isn't always the neatest solution.

An empty Pringles-style snack can happens to be almost the perfect shape. Once the snacks are gone, clean and dry the container, then slide your roller inside. The tall, narrow shape gives the roller plenty of room without flattening it against a surface. It also keeps the paint-covered roller contained instead of leaving it lying around where it can make a mess.

If you're taking a short break rather than finishing for the day, you can use the container as temporary storage, provided it's suitable for the type of paint you're using and sealed appropriately. And yes, there's one obvious problem with this hack. You have to eat the snacks first. But once that's taken care of, you've got a surprisingly useful piece of painting equipment without spending another dollar.

After all, painting already gives you enough things to buy. Why not let the empty snack container do a little work too?
