You'll Thank Yourself For Doing This Years From Now
Here's a painting trick that has nothing to do with actually painting the wall. It's about helping your future self. Imagine that you've painted your kitchen today. Everything looks fantastic. But three years later, you notice a scuff on the wall and want to touch it up. What color did you use?
You might remember the general shade, but do you remember the exact brand, color name, finish, and sheen? Probably not. That's why it's worth recording the information somewhere you won't lose it. One clever place is the back of an outlet or light-switch cover. Write down the paint brand, color, and sheen on the back where it won't be visible during normal use. You can even put a tiny dab of the actual paint there as an additional reference.
Then, years later, when you need to repaint a small damaged section, you won't have to play detective trying to remember what you bought. You simply remove the cover and check your notes. It takes less than a minute when you're already working on the room, but it could save you a huge amount of frustration when you need that information again.
