Inside, Every Inch Has A Purpose
Walking into Emma's home gives you a very different impression from walking into a typical house. The space is small, but it doesn't feel as though it's trying to imitate a larger home. Instead, everything has been arranged around the way she actually lives. There isn't room for enormous furniture or rows of storage cabinets. Emma has explained that she prefers not to fill a small space with unnecessary pieces because doing so would leave very little room to move.
Her belongings are therefore kept simple and visible. That approach also means she regularly has to reconsider what she owns. If something isn't useful or important, there's little reason to keep it taking up precious space. The home has another feature that makes it particularly distinctive. The main room is round.
Emma says living in a circular space creates a very different feeling from living in a conventional rectangular room. After years of refining the building, she describes the result as comfortable, beautiful and cozy. And when the weather turns cold, the tiny room becomes even more inviting. A fire provides warmth and also becomes an important part of her daily routine.
