This old man turned an airplane into his home and the inside looks pretty special

Innovative plan

Since his youth, William Johnson has been drawn to tinkering with old objects and crafting new creations. His original vision for the land was to build a home fashioned from various freighters. However, after learning about Joanne Ussery, a Mississippi hairdresser who transformed a Boeing 727 into a home.

William was inspired to alter his plans. Ussery’s innovative approach prompted William, now well in his 70s, to reconsider and adapt his own vision for the unique home.

Boeing 727

In 1999, William Johnson made the decision to purchase a Boeing 727 aircraft from Olympic Airways for a substantial $100,000. Upon acquiring the plane, he faced the challenge of transporting the massive vehicle to his forest property in Oregon. Importing it from Athens, Greece, proved to be a logistical issue, accumulating transportation costs of approximately $120,000. Despite the total cost of $220,000, William believed the plane was worth every penny.
