The greenhouse bathroom is the cabin’s most unusual feature. Kayla combined a washing space with a place for plants, using the warmth and light of the greenhouse to make the room feel alive. Instead of hiding the bathroom inside the cabin, she placed it where glass, greenery, and daylight became part of it. It feels practical without feeling clinical.
The shower works with the home’s off-grid water system, so there is no conventional plumbing network behind the walls. Water comes from the rainwater supply and has to be used with care. Nearby, a composting toilet handles waste without requiring a sewer connection. These choices allow the property to function independently, but they also mean Kayla has to maintain the systems herself.
What makes the space memorable is how those practical ideas fit together. The greenhouse is not just decoration, and the bathroom not simply squeezed into an outdoor structure. Plants benefit from the sheltered environment, while Kayla gains a private place to wash that feels connected to the land. It is inventive, slightly unconventional, and very personal. Like the rest of the cabin, it solves several problems at once without pretending to be a normal suburban bathroom.
