Could you live inside a shed?
When you think of a shed, you probably imagine a place for garden tools, tires, and things you rarely use. Sheds are usually cold, humid, and far from cozy, right? But what if we told you it doesn’t have to be that way? With a little creativity, a shed can become much more than storage.
And that’s exactly what one elderly woman did—alongside her young grandchild. After the tragic loss of the child’s parents, the grandmother stepped in to care for her. Though she lived far away, she didn’t want to uproot her granddaughter from the school, friends, and neighborhood she knew. With no nearby housing options and limited funds, an old shed behind a friend’s property became their only chance to stay together. It wasn’t much to look at—cold, cluttered, and completely unfit for living—but they rolled up their sleeves and began turning that forgotten corner into a warm and inviting little home.
