The Private Retreat – The Loft Bedroom
Ascending the stairs—a significant upgrade from the original artist-owners’ ladder—leads you to the loft bedroom. This “half-loft” space is surprisingly spacious, featuring a queen-sized bed set on a pedestal. Because the room is surrounded by windows, it is incredibly bright, requiring custom curtains to keep the 5:30 AM summer sun at bay. It’s a tranquil, elevated nest that offers a different perspective of the surrounding trees and water.
Storage is cleverly integrated even in these sleeping quarters. A hanging closet and a wardrobe provide ample space for a full wardrobe, challenging the idea that living on a boat means owning only a handful of items. The loft also serves as the gateway to the upper deck. To get outside, one must navigate a “questionable” but charming crank window, a quirk left behind by the previous owners that adds to the home’s unique character.
