One of the first things we asked her was the most obvious question — does the space ever feel too small? It’s something most people wonder when they see a house like this. From the outside, it looks compact, almost like a weekend getaway rather than a full-time home. But she was quick to point out that the idea was never to feel cramped. It was to use the space differently. She explained that while the footprint of the house is small, the design does most of the heavy lifting.
Instead of spreading outwards, she built upwards. The second floor, tucked neatly into the steep lines of the A-frame, adds an entirely new layer to the home. It doesn’t just create extra sleeping space — it changes how the house feels altogether. The height gives it openness, and the layout makes it surprisingly functional.
She mentioned that it comfortably fits not just her, but also visiting family and friends. Cousins, friends, even entire families have stayed over — something that would seem unlikely just by looking at it from the outside.
For her, that was important. She didn’t want a space that felt isolated or limiting. She wanted something that could still bring people together. And according to her, it does exactly that.
