Harnessing the Power of Natural Light
Our eyes were designed to work with natural sunlight, which changes in color and intensity from sunrise to sunset. However, most of us now live under “artificial junk lighting” that stays the same all day long. This constant, unchanging light from ceiling bulbs and screens can confuse our internal clocks. Morning sunlight tells the brain to wake up, while the softer light of evening tells it to wind down. Without this natural rhythm, your visual system loses its balance, leaving you feeling both tired and high-strung at the same time.
You can support your visual health by stepping outside for just two minutes every morning. Letting your eyes take in natural daylight helps set your internal rhythm and can do more for your mental focus than a cup of coffee. Additionally, be mindful of your screen use before bed. The bright blue light from devices tricks your brain into thinking it is daytime, which lowers your sleep quality and prevents your eyes from fully recharging at night. Turning off screens an hour or more before sleep is a powerful way to keep your vision feeling refreshed.
