Leftover Garlic Clove? This Is How You Grow Your Own Garlic

Step 1: Choose the right potting soil

We already said you need potting soil, but you need to make sure your potting soil is the right one for growing garlic. Choose a type that allows water to pass well and that is not fertilized. The former point in particular is important. This is because if your soil is too wet, garlic cannot grow as well.

Step 2: planting

Find a sunny spot for the garlic to grow. Enrich the soil with potting soil, or fill a large flower pot with potting soil. With a finger, make holes in the potting soil a few inches deep. This is where the cloves will go later. Pour some water over the holes and then insert a clove. Cover with soil and pour some more water over it.

Step 3: patience

You don’t have to look after the garlic much. Occasional watering is sufficient. Furthermore, it is mainly a matter of patience. After a few weeks you can see the first signs of life. A green sprite will appear (if all goes well). After this point, unfortunately, you still have to wait a while for it to appear. It takes about six months until your garlic is ready. Then take them out of the ground, hang them by the stem and let them dry. Is your garlic dry? Then you can store it afterwards as you normally do.

Good luck!
