Don’t forget to clean these spots during your next cleanup

The floor, the counters, the toilet and the sink: these are the things we clean on a weekly basis – or even more often. It’s easy to notice when these things get dirty. The same goes for dirty laundry and dusty shelves. When we can see the chore, we’re much more inclined to actually do it. That’s why these seven spots are easily forgotten when you’re cleaning your home. Are you going to clean them properly next time? We’re certainly going to try!

Out of sight, out of mind.

7. Walls and baseboards

Although we often dust the horizontal surfaces in our home, we tend to forget the vertical ones. This might come as a surprise, but there’s also a layer of dust on your walls! Open up your curtains and turn on the lights and you’ll see there’s quite a bit of dust on the walls. Begin by cleaning all the walls and finish by doing the baseboards. Using a duster, start at the top of the wall and work your way down. For most rooms, dusting with a dry cloth or duster will be enough, but in the kitchen and bathroom, you might want to use a slightly damp cloth. In these rooms, the moisture in the air might have caused the dust to stick a bit more stubbornly.

6. Undersides of furniture

A lot of dust gathers underneath your bed, sofa and chairs. Of course, we vacuum underneath these things quite regularly, but have you ever checked the undersides of your furniture? Cobwebs and dust bunnies are left behind here. That’s why you should turn over your pieces of furniture at least twice a year to clean them. Use a duster or vacuum cleaner for this chore.

5. Plants

Do you love big, green houseplants as well? They look so pretty and give off an energetic vibe. Big plants do need a bit of cleaning every now and again, though, because they gather a lot of dust. The easiest method to clean your plants is to put them in the shower or bathtub and carefully rinse them with water. Are your plants too big or heavy for this method? Then you can use a slightly damp microfiber cloth to carefully wipe off the leaves of the plant.
