11 Things Japanese Women Get Rid Off After 50 — That Americans Never Throw Away

#5 Check What Is Hiding in the Bathroom

Bathroom cupboards often contain products we barely remember buying. There may be half-used creams, old makeup, hotel toiletries, nearly empty bottles and products that were tried once before being pushed behind something else. Because each item is small, the collection can grow for years without attracting much attention.

Take everything from one shelf or drawer and check it carefully. Dispose of products that have expired, changed smell or texture, or are clearly no longer suitable to use. Be especially careful with medication. Do not simply flush unwanted medicines or throw them away unless local guidance says that is safe. Pharmacies and local authorities may offer appropriate medication take-back or disposal options.

Then look at the products that remain. Five nearly identical lotions are not particularly useful if you always choose the same one. Neither are travel-size bottles saved from trips ten years ago. Put the things you use regularly where they are easiest to reach and avoid buying replacements until you actually need them. A bathroom does not need to resemble a hotel supply cupboard. Keeping fewer products also makes it much easier to notice what needs replacing and what you already have.
